However people then say that the screens aren't as high quality. You can even do the same and have it be as thin and light. ![]() Everyone knows you can buy a PC with equal or better performance that is at least 1k cheaper. My PC build can handle additional graphics cards, and can be easily opened and kept current, where the Mac cannot. The other huge difference is upgradability. I haven't made a build that is exactly the same spec wise, but I imagine it would be at least 1k less. All that cutting no corners, and getting top notch parts. My build had twice the RAM, at a significantly faster speed (1600vs2133), the same processor (I could put a faster one in and still be cheaper), a gtx 980 as opposed to an r9 m290x, and a 1TB ssd as opposed to a 1TB hybrid. All Mac products have laptop GPUs, so that's a loss right there. Quite frankly the 5k screen is a joke because the didn't put a GPU in it that can reliably render anything at that resolution. A $150 nice looking tower), have a 4k screen, and was objectively better in every other way, for $200 less. In less than 5 minutes, I comprised a parts list for a PC that would look beautiful (as in not the cheapest, shittiest tower available. Desks have been designed to accommodate towers while leaving sufficient work space, and the work space lost by a tower is insignificant. It is meant, by it's very name, to sit on your desk. If you are buying a desktop, it clearly doesn't need to be as thin and lightweight as possible. Take the newest iMac, the one with the 5k display that is 27" and costs $2,500. Let's start with desktops, as I think the disparity is even clearer here. Every time I'm shopping for a computer, I always check in to see what Macs are doing, and leave baffled as to why anyone buys them. I hold this view because, well, I think it's true. In general, my sanity would be improved if my view changed. I would also like to not feel like I'm talking to an idiot when someone talks about how great Macs are. It would make me feel better to think that when I walk around campus, or see people using their laptops, that I'm not surrounded by people who have essentially been ripped off.
